NoRTAC ATV user survey stats

Last month we pulled statistics from the Northern Regional Trail Advisory Committee (NoRTAC) ATV user survey that we ran over this past year. The survey is still running, and we encourage riders to continue taking it as this information is so important to us! The link to the survey is here.

This wasn’t the final tally by any means, but we wanted to find out where we are at. I’m not reporting on all the data we gathered so far, just a small portion of it as of last month.

Trail Types– riders were asked to rank each trail type as favorite, good, or least favorite. The trails types that were ranked as high favorites were;

Rustic trails (rougher, natural surface, some obstacles such as rocks and roots) had the most votes at 700, followed by 450 votes from groomed trails (groomed/graded, but not gravel roads or RR grades). By far, the least favorite trail type was the intensive use parks.

Mapping – 59% of riders said they use both paper maps and digital, 29% used digital, and 12% used paper maps.

Day ride spending – Most riders indicated they spent between $40-$60 for food, and $20-$40 for gas for each day ride they took. Most spent $20 or under for extras (raffles, clothing, etc) for each day ride, closely followed by the group reporting they spent $100-$200 on these items.

Overnight ride spending – Most spent up to $50 for lodging, followed closely by those that spent $1000 or more on lodging. Most spent between $50-$100 for gas, $200-$250 on food, and $50-$100 on extras such as clothing, raffles, etc.

Just some interesting information so far – I can’t wait to see where we end up with this survey! Hopefully, riders will continue taking this!
