Snowmobile registration

In summary, if your sled is kept in Wisconsin more than 15 consecutive days, it must be registered in Wisconsin.
Initial registrations should be done at WI DNR Go Wild. The DNR registration year runs from Jul 1 to Jun 30- all registrations expire on Jun 30th of the third year.
You will receive 2 Wisconsin registration stickers in the mail- one for each side of your snowmobile cowling forward of the driver position. You can legally ride with your paper receipt until your registration stickers arrive in the mail.
2024-2025 snowmobile registration fees:
- $30 regular registration for 3 years, renewal is $30
- $20 antique snowmobile (35 yrs & older) registration for 3 years, renewal is $5

Briefly, to ride public Wisconsin trails, you must have a trail pass. Order yours early- no matter how or where you pay for your trail pass, the sticker will be mailed to you.
You can legally ride with your paper trail pass receipt until your sticker comes in the mail.
When you receive your trail pass, affix it to the lower center of the sled windshield, or somewhere forward of the driver if there is no windshield. All trail passes are valid for 1 season and expire on Jun 30.
2024-2025 Wisconsin snowmobile trail pass fees:
- $10 – AWSC discounted trail pass (see below)
- $30 – WI registered snowmobile/owner not member of AWSC club
- $50 – Snowmobile registered in another state/non-resident trail pass
- $0 – Wisconsin-registered antique sleds do not need a trail pass
AWSC discounted trail passes – Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs
If you own a Wisconsin-registered snowmobile, and you are a paid member of an AWSC-recognized snowmobile club, you can buy your trail pass for only $10 at the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs website.
Make sure your snowmobile club has updated your membership through AWSC before you go after your trail pass. Again, order early- but you can legally ride with your paper receipt until your trail pass sticker arrives in the mail.
